Are you a BMS Engineer with strong Niagara experience who enjoys developing software, building applications and finding smarter ways to deliver projects? We're working with a rapidly growing BMS business looking for an Applications Engineer to join its Special Projects division, supporting major data centre projects across the UK and Europe.
This isn't your typical BMS engineering role.
The focus is on developing applications, engineering tools and automated solutions that make the delivery and commissioning of complex BMS projects faster, more efficient and more consistent.
Rather than repeatedly engineering the same solutions from scratch, you'll be helping develop the tools and processes that allow engineering teams to standardise and streamline their work.
You'll be working alongside a highly experienced technical team delivering complex data centre projects, with the opportunity to influence how software and engineering solutions are developed across the division.
The Role
Working remotely as part of the Special Projects team, you'll combine your knowledge of BMS engineering with software and application development.
A key part of the position involves developing tools and applications that improve the efficiency and standardisation of commissioned software, graphics, point naming conventions and alarms.
You'll also be involved in developing interfaces and integrations between BMS platforms and client systems, alongside supporting project-specific BMS design and engineering requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing new applications and engineering tools to automate and standardise BMS software and graphics.
- Creating solutions that reduce repetitive engineering and commissioning activities.
- Developing interfaces and integrations between Niagara-based platforms and external client systems.
- Producing and modifying project-specific BMS software, graphics and control strategies.
- Supporting BMS design, including descriptions of operation, schedules, drawings, panel modifications and software points lists.
- Working with project and commissioning engineers to identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
- Supporting the development of new technical solutions and resolving complex engineering challenges.
- Providing technical support to the wider Special Projects team.
What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in speaking with engineers who have progressed beyond traditional BMS commissioning and enjoy the software development and application side of building controls.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Strong experience with Tridium Niagara N4 and a good understanding of its application architecture.
- Experience developing BMS software, graphics, engineering tools or bespoke applications.
- An understanding of software development, ideally including Java or Niagara module development.
- Experience integrating BMS platforms with other systems and technologies.
- A solid understanding of BMS control strategies, HVAC systems and commissioning.
- Experience with platforms such as Tridium, Trend, Schneider, Siemens or ALC.
- The ability to work independently, take ownership of technical challenges and develop practical solutions.
You don't necessarily need to come from a dedicated software development background. An experienced BMS Engineer with strong Niagara knowledge, programming ability and a genuine interest in application development could be an excellent fit.
What's on Offer?
- Salary up to £80,000
- Fully remote working from anywhere in the UK.
- Occasional European travel, depending on project requirements.
- Involvement in major, technically complex data centre projects.
- The opportunity to develop applications and engineering tools that will be used across multiple projects.
- A highly technical environment where innovation and new ideas are encouraged.
Interested?
If you're an experienced Niagara Engineer who enjoys the development side of BMS and wants to move beyond conventional project engineering, we'd be keen to speak with you.
This is an opportunity to help shape how complex BMS projects are engineered and delivered, rather than simply following existing processes.
