Intelligent Buildings Lead £90K to £130K

 

We’re searching for a heavy-hitter in the smart buildings space to take the reins of a growing, multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technicians. You’ll be the go-to technical authority for all things Intelligent Building Technology, Buildings Automation and Control Systems. This isn’t a desk-only job. You’ll lead from the front — driving innovation, shaping architecture, and delivering cutting-edge BMS solutions across a range of commercial, residential, and educational projects.

From defining strategy to rolling your sleeves up for commissioning, this role blends leadership, tech, and delivery into one. You'll also play a key role in shaping new software and data propositions alongside the company insights and analytics teams.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading the Intelligent Building Function — from BMS engineering and design to commissioning and panel build

• Acting as Design Authority on major projects, ensuring technical excellence across delivery

• Scoping and overseeing design of intelligent building systems: KNX, ModBus, DALI, CANX, BACnet etc

• Hands-on programming using FBD or LUA logic

• Supporting architecture development for next-gen building technology

• Regular site visits (London HQ, Driffield factory, Slough workshop, and project sites) to oversee FAT testing, panel builds, and commissioning

• Building out scalable design standards and QA processes

• Managing installers and subcontractors to ensure top-tier delivery

• Driving customer training and project handovers

• Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team

• Supporting new business proposals, sales processes, and client pitches

• Contributing to software and data innovation for low-carbon building operation

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of hands-on BMS Systems Experience in any of Trend, Tridium, Delta, Distech, KNX  experience across commercial, residential, and education projects

• Background in fast-paced, high-growth environments

• Strong technical knowledge of open protocols (BACnet, Modbus, DALI etc.)

• Fluent with AutoCAD OR REVIT

• Solid understanding of British standards, BSRIA, CIBSE

• UK/EU driving licence + security clearance required
