
HVAC BAS Controls Specialist

Your Role
As a HVAC BAS Controls Specialist, you'll be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, working on large-scale, multi-million-dollar energy solutions projects. You will analyse and optimize mechanical systems to create more efficient and sustainable Building Automation Systems (BAS). Based in New York, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with building operators, providing valuable training and support.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct on-site surveys of existing controls and BAS during the design phase.
Analyze current sequences of operation and mechanical system performance.
Select and size key control devices such as valves, actuators, and sensors.
Document and establish new and existing control points.
Collaborate with the Construction Manager to develop RFPs, negotiate contracts, and hire controls contractors.
Assist in developing innovative controls solutions to meet energy efficiency goals.
Work with project teams to commission and start-up systems and equipment, including boilers and chillers.
Provide training to on-site staff for the use and maintenance of new mechanical systems.
Optimize equipment and system performance for peak efficiency.
Monitor completed projects to maintain energy savings over time.
Your Profile
7+ years of experience in HVAC Building Automation Systems and installing mechanical systems such as air handlers and VAVs.
Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting controllers from brands like Delta Controls, Distech Controls, Johnson Controls, Siemens, and Honeywell.
Experience hiring and managing control contractors.
Strong understanding of mechanical sequences of operation and system drawings.
Ability to troubleshoot hardware devices and wiring.
Willingness to travel frequently on-site (up to 80%) and occasional travel to Canada or other U.S. locations.
Self-motivated with strong decision-making skills.
Valid driver’s license required.
