
VIGO Recruitment is working with a global leader in Building Automation to hire an experienced Building Automation Project Manager. The Role
The Building Automation Project Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating project activities to ensure successful execution. This includes managing financial performance, subcontractor relationships, and project documentation while ensuring all safety and quality standards are met. The role requires strong leadership, industry knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
Develop and implement project execution plans, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, budget estimates, and company standards.
Prepare installation subcontractor bidding documents, negotiate terms, and manage schedules, change orders, and billing.
Monitor and forecast manpower and resource requirements to keep projects on track.
Conduct site audits and create site safety plans, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and job site requirements.
Maximise profit margins by improving labour efficiency, outsourcing, and strategic purchasing.
Prepare and update project schedules and cost-to-complete estimates.
Financial & Contract Management
Take full accountability for financial performance on assigned projects.
Manage project revenue forecasts, schedules of values, and billing cycles.
Oversee all change order reviews and pricing activities, including estimating and proposal creation.
Ensure timely project closeout and customer payment collection.
Team & Stakeholder Coordination
Lead and empower project teams, delegating responsibility and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Act as the primary point of contact for all customer-facing communications.
Prepare project handovers to service teams and provide final project documentation to the customer.
Conduct regular meetings, document key actions, and maintain all project-related logs and records.
Quality & Compliance
Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews to ensure projects meet technical and contractual standards.
Document all project activities, including RFIs, change orders, meeting minutes, punch lists, and transmittal logs.
Provide recovery plans for underperforming projects when necessary.
Skills and Experience Required
Essential:
Minimum of 6 years' experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar system application engineering or technician role.
Strong understanding of contracting procedures and construction industry standards.
Experience managing project correspondence, documentation, and change orders.
Knowledge of HVAC, BMS, and/or security systems.
Practical understanding of construction methods, building codes, and industry standards.
Proficient in managing subcontractors and vendors.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to empower and direct team members.
Strong financial acumen and ability to manage project budgets and revenue forecasts.
Preferred:
Four-year degree in Engineering or a technical field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven track record of improving gross margin through operational efficiency.
